“Art is not a mirror held up to reality, but a hammer with which to shape it.”
– Bertolt Brecht –
Beautiful Rising seeks to strengthen the capacity, creativity, and effectiveness of social movements, activist groups, and civil society organizations to achieve lasting social change. Beautiful Rising will be a modular toolkit of creative activism assembled by activists, organizers, and troublemakers across the global south and launching in spring 2016. If you’re involved in innovative, creative activism and want to work with us to document your successes (and failures!) for others to learn from them, we want to hear from you. The project was initiated in 2014 by ActionAid Denmark in collaboration with Beautiful Trouble, and is funded by the Danish International Development Agency (DANIDA) under the heading “Innovative Partnerships.”
