Short-term observers usually spend about a week in-country. Most observation missions send a small number of long-term monitors for a period of 6-8 weeks, to observe the planning and campaign.

Keep in mind that EOMs are primarily a technical instrument, invited to assess the quality of an electoral process in line with international and local standards.
