Hello from Daryn and Maria! Welcome to the Civil Resistance 3: Sustaining the Movement course, part three of our three part series on civil resistance. We will be your instructors for this course, and we're very glad you're here.
For the final part of our civil resistance series, we are focusing on what it takes to sustain a movement. Once you understand the basics of nonviolence and form your movement and message, how do you ensure it will carry on? To understand this, we will analyze the challenges movements face and examine what actors are critical in creating conditions to sustain a movement.
We developed this course for activists, civil society leaders, scholars, regional experts, policymakers from governments and international organizations, journalists, religious figures, educators/trainers, and those with a keen interest in how ordinary people are transforming conflicts through nonviolent action. We will hear stories and learn from a variety of practitioners and activists who will challenge us to think critically about conflict. We also look forward to hearing from you and your perspectives through discussion forums and activities!
Thanks for joining this course. I hope the stories, reflections, and lessons offered in this course will help better prepare you for future engagements. If you have questions or need assistance at any point, please do reach out to our Global Campus directly at globalcampus@usip.org . Let's get started!
